Self Confidence
The charismatic confidence of a great speaker, bold brush strokes of an Artist, poise posture of a dancer, unstaggering voice of a vocalist are an example of admirable self confident people.
One of the things that holds one back from pursuing their dreams for years is fear of failure … and the lack of self-confidence that one needs to overcome that fear. It’s something we all come across to some extend. The question is how do you overcome this fear?
Self confidence is an important trait for every individual, yet many struggle to find it. And sadly, this is a vicious circle: Generally people with low self confidence find it difficult to become successful. Afterall, nobody wants to hand over an important project in nervous, fumbling and overly apologetic hands.
On the other side, one is persuaded by a confidence of person with head held high. Confident people are an inspiration to their audience, peers, bosses, customers and their friends. And gaining the confidence of others is the key to success.
- Self Grooming and dressing nicely: It’s amazing how difference can ones appearance make in ones feelings about self. By dressing nicely you’ll feel good about yourself. You’ll feel successful and presentable. It does not really mean buying all expensive clothes and accessories, it’s more about what you do with them. Afterall, fashion is more about creativity and has less to do with the cost.
- Photoshop your self-image: Our self-image is very important to us, more than what we realize. We mentally picture ourselves, and it determines how confident we are. This picture can be changed and moulded as we want it to be. So, it’s in our hands to change it to a good one, if it’s not.
- Think positive and kill negative thoughts: This sounds trite, but it works quite effectively. Positivity helps you give a start to things, you had left long pending in fear of hard work or failure. Essential to this is keeping your negative thoughts at bay. This requires realizing your self talk. Remember, those thoughts, ’ It’s too hard. I want to stop and go back home.’ Well, consider them as bugs and squash them away. Replace them with positivity, ‘Yes, I can.’
- Get to know yourself: In a battle, you cannot win without knowing your enemy. And when you are going replace your negative self-image with self confidence, your enemy is yourself. So, get to know yourself. Start listening to your thoughts and analyse yourself that why do have negativity. Think about positivity in you, look for your real limitations dig yourself deeper and eventually you’ll come out with greater self-confidence.

- Act positive and focus on solutions: You need to do more than just think positive. It’s one thing to think positive. But when you start living on it, you change yourself, one action at a time. You are what you do. Talk to people positively, putting your energy into action. You’ll soon start to notice a difference. If you are a complainer or focus more on problems change that and focus on solving the issues.
- Be kind and generous: It is important to balance kindness to others and generosity with yourself and your time. It is a tremendous way to improve self image. You eventually start to feel good about yourself.

- Know your principles and live them: Built up your life on certain principles, It is very important to discipline your life or you’ll be directionless. Know your principles which believe and think if you follow them or not.
- Speak slowly and stand tall: Speak slow and don’t sound rushed. You’ll see how differently people perceive you. It shows confidence. Stand tall and straight. People who stand tall and confidently are more attractive.
- Set small and achievable goals: People often make mistake of shooting for the moon. Take it slow, one step at a time. You’ll feel good when you achieve them. The more you achieve small goals the better you’ll be at it, and the better you’ll feel.
- Empower yourself with knowledge: It is one of the best strategies for building self-confidence. You become more knowledgeable by doing research and studying. Internet is a great tool ofcourse, but you can also learn from people around you, books, magazines, and educational institutions.
- Work on small things: Take up small tasks. Learn to break up a big task in smaller chunks. It may be improving your really small habit or doing a task that you have been procrastinating for a while.
